On 22/06, in Month for Children - June 2019, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) collaborated with BAC A BANK to organize “Happy Farm” - an one-day trip for 55 disabled students from Thuy An Centre in Ba Vi, Ha Noi.

Participants included 6 teachers and 55 students from Thuy An Rehabilitation Center For Handicapped Children, 35 volunteers who are officials, employees and their children of BAC A BANK, in companion with VSF’s members.

Meaningful event

“Happy Farm” was organized with various fascinating activities, in order to give disabled students the opportunity to explore nature, enhance soft skills which would assist them in rehabilitation process. Not only did they visit and learn about a traditional house, farming tools, goat shed, rabbit hill, pig barn, ostrics barn, etc., they also got the chance to experience feeding and milking goats, riding horses and digging potatoes. This indeed was an extraordinary experience for students from Thuy An Center.

Tug-of-war was the first game, ideal ice-breaker for students and volunteers.

Besides visiting farm animals, they also experienced making stuffed sticky rice balls, coloring statuettes, making ceramics and finding their way out in a maze.

“This is the first time I go on a trip, I have played a lot of games. Although I am tired but I am very happy, there were not so many games at center where I live and study. I like the stuffed sticky rice balls, because I was instructed to make them with my friends and I also got to eat it.” - said by Pham Quang Dung, student of Thuy An Center.

Participated in the program were also young volunteers who are children of officials and employees of BAC A BANK. Volunteers had their mission of creating interactive activities such as tug-of-war, making origami, building carton houses, making handcrafted pictures… which brought extra fun to their journey with Thuy An students.

Students and volunteers excited about the farm exploring experience.

One of the young volunteers, Hoang Thao Phuong shared: “I am very happy to help my friends, who have more difficulties than me to have such fun today. Although our group had ones who are unable to hear and with DOWN syndrome, but when we played together, we had many ways to understand each other's ideas and coordinate very well. I think children like me should do volunteer more, as we can help others and make new friends at the same time.”

Handing Love

On this trip, BAC A BANK Youth Union and VSF also raised VND 38 million from BAC A BANK staff to award to Thuy An Center. This is one of the meaningful actions of BAC A BANK and VSF in order to contribute to the community, hope to lessen the difficulties and encourage students to keep up and hope for a bright future.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Vu Trong Quynh - Head of social work of Thuy An Center shared: “I am very glad that the volunteers spent their precious time with our students. Although the weather is quite hot, but there is always a smile on the face of all the children of the Center and the volunteers. I believe that this experience will help our students to get closer to nature, enhance soft skills and be more confident when playing with their peers.”

At the end of the day, the volunteer team and small friends from Thuy An felt it hard to say goodbye.
