Launching “Improving nutrition and assisting socialization for handicapped children in Cao Bang province” project

“Improving nutrition and assisting socialization for handicapped children in Cao Bang province” project was officially initiated on last August 13 with the training activity for children caretakers about appropriate nutrition practices for handicapped children.

This project is the cooperation between For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) and Center for Rehabilitation and Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities in Cao Bang, with the sponsorship of TH Group. VSF is going to provide technical support for this project. The aim of the project is to improve nutrition, health, physical mobility function and learning ability of disabled children at Center for Rehabilitation and Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities in Cao Bang.

The project will be carried out from July 2018 to June 2019 and consist of the following main activities:

- Providing milk for 70 children at the center three times per week continuously in 9 months.

- Training staff and teachers at the center about rehabilitation and socialization for children with disabilities.

- Training children caretakers and chefs about appropriate nutrition diets for children with disabilities.

- Improve clean water system at the center.

 

About this project, Mrs. Tran Thi Nhu Trang, Director of VSF said: “With the connection of Medisch Comité Nederland Vietnam (MCVN), we are very delighted to cooperate with Center for Rehabilitation and Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities in Cao Bang to launch this project with the aim of promoting the model of assisting rehabilitation for disabled children. More importantly, we emphasize the nutrition improvement, because it is both a pressing need for children, but until now not properly addressed and the strong point of VSF. We are honored to welcome financial contribution and assistance from any organizations to maintain and broaden the project in the upcoming years.

 

From next September, 70 children at the center will be given milk three times per week till the end of schoolyear. Previously at the end of July, staff and teachers at the center were trained about autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
