[Project 11] Fundraising 18 million VND to support a young girl in minor ethnic group in Dien Bien province

Vang Thi Ly*, born in 2010 and belonging to the Mong ethnic group, comes from Muong Mun commune, a disadvantaged area in Dien Bien province. She is the eldest of five siblings. Her family mainly depends on upland farming with unstable seasonal income, so from a young age, Ly has been accustomed to helping care for her siblings and supporting her parents.

In May 2025, she was sexually abused and the incident has left deep psychological and physical scars on her. The case is currently being investigated and handled by the authorities in accordance with legal regulations and is expected to be brought to trial in the first quarter of 2026. During this difficult period, what is precious is that Ly CHOSE TO CONTINUE STUDYING, not giving up her dream of a better future.

She is now pursuing both her general education and piano classes at a college of culture and arts, dreaming of becoming a music teacher. Ly and her family must cover all expenses themselves, including tuition and dormitory fees, while the school provides daily lunches. With her family only able to support 100,000 - 200,000 VND each month, her life and study far from home are an immense challenge.

Yet she is not walking this path alone. Anh Duong House Dien Bien and the Dien Bien Community Development Fund (FCD) have been accompanying, offering psychological and legal support to help her regain confidence.

With the desire to stand by her on her educational journey and help build a brighter future, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) is calling on the community to join us in sponsoring Ly’s tuition and living expenses throughout 2026. With support of 1.5 million VND per month, she will be able to focus on her studies with peace of mind, without carrying burdens far beyond her fifteen years.
