The youth effectively implement environmental projects

From October to December 2020, 5 youth-led environmental projects were implemented and achieved remarkable results. These projects are financially and technically supported by For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) through the Initiative Fund "Fresh Air - Green City", with the sponsorship of Bac A Bank.
Project “Art to heal environmental wounds”
Project “Art to heal environmental wounds” has ended with many impressive achievements. The survey results at the end of the project show that, after 3 months of operation, 100% of students in Cam Son Secondary School have the right awareness about plastic waste and understand their role in reducing it. 60% of students have practiced "Living Green - Reducing plastic waste" with specific actions. In addition, 23 core students in the improvised play club will be typical disseminators, who spread meaningful messages about environmental protection and improvement to students in the school by improvised play form.
The project not only attracted the attention and participation of 1,188 students and teachers, but also received the attention of the leaders of the education sector, youth union and local authorities.
“I had not paid attention to environmental issues before. After participating in the project and being trained, my thoughts about the environment have changed. I know that it takes a long time for plastic waste to decompose and we need to diminish plastic usage to protect the environment” - a student shared.
The project "Art to heal environmental wounds" of Green Eyes group has been successfully implemented at Cam Son Secondary School, Cam Son Ward, Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh Province, with the desire to use art (improvised play) for education to improve the understanding and awareness of students about plastic waste in particular and environmental issues in general through activities, namely: Training skills and knowledge of improvised play for Green Eye group; established the "improvised play club" at the school; training for the improvised play club; development of skills and guidelines for green living practices; Practical guide to minimizing plastic waste; organized the contest "Diary of Green Life - Reduce plastic waste - Save the future"; the program "Art of healing environmental injuries"
Project “Climate Action”
After 2-month implementation, project “Climate Action” ended and achieved positive results such as: the project's fanpage attracted nearly 1,000 followers, 150 people participated in the "7 days of green living" contest, more 1,000 people take participated in the talkshow "Life of plastic", 40 people participated in the "Green Building" contest, established the "Green Living Club" with 12 core members (currently the club is collecting bottle caps to make artwork, and will continue to operate after the project ended). The survey at the end of the project showed that 100% of students gained useful knowledge of plastic waste; 100% of students accessed technology-incorporated recycled products.
“The program is very exciting and meaningful. It not only helps us have a creative playground after stressful school hours, but also provides us with a lot of knowledge of plastic waste and environmental protection. Moreover, it is also an opportunity for us to show our talents, build teamwork skills, make friends and learn new things. As a result, we are more conscious and responsible to take actions on environment protection. I want to thank the people who created the project” - Nguyen Thuy Hien, class 11A1 shared.
Project “Climate Action” of a group of students from Hanoi University of Science and Technology was carried out at Soc Son High School, Hanoi. The project aims to raise students' awareness and change their behavior towards environmental protection through activities such as creating a fanpage; organizing "7 days of green living'' contest, "Life of plastic" talkshow; "Green Building" contest; and establishing "Green Living" club. The activities of the project have attracted the participation of 1500 students, 20 teachers and 32 volunteers.
Project “Green Power 23”
Project “Green Power 23” with the main activity is to organize an online contest called "Recycling Heroes" through the project's fanpage, the contest aims to find creative ideas and recycled products. After a period of launching, the contest organizers received 20 recycled products from young people across the country. With the support of the jury who are experts from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Thanh Hoa province, the organizers selected and awarded the first prize to the Menrva Project team from Ho Chi Minh City with recycled products from old clothes.
Through the contest "Recycling Heroes", the project wants to encourage the spirit of reducing waste and recycling/reusing plastic items of young people. This has great significance to environmental protection that society is aiming for. Moreover, the project has contributed to changing the awareness of the community, especially young people, by forming daily habits such as reducing/reusing plastic waste..
Project “Green Power 23” is implemented by a group of students from high schools in Thanh Hoa province with the aim of raising awareness about environmental issues and spreading green lifestyle to the community.
Hue GE Tour Project
The Hue GE Tour project has conducted 4 technical training courses on producing biological cleaner Garbage Enzyme (GE) from organic waste for 82 members of Vietnam Women's Union. In addition, the project also established a fanpage to spread the spirit of green living to members, and provide online technical support for those who do not have the opportunity to participate in training. In addition, GE know-how ebook has also been completed, which will be used in training sessions and widely distributed to the community.
It can be said that the project not only helps to minimize the amount of organic waste which is discharged directly into the environment, but also saves costs, reduces industrial chemical products, and protects community health. Moreover, this activity can be upgraded to homemade biological-product business for local households, which is developing strongly not only in Hue city but also in other provinces in the country. Project “Hue GE Tour” was conducted in Hue city by Hue Eco Homestay group, the project aims to improve the knowledge of garbage classification and make use of a part of organic waste to make useful products for life. In the near future, the project will continue to conduct 7 training courses for members of the Women's Union in Hue city.
Project “Stage for the Environment”
Project “Stage for the Environment '' started with a training course (including 11 sessions) on scriptwriting and comedy performance including improvised comedy, sketch comedy, stand-up comedy on stage and video edit for 15 core students. Moreover, the core group of students successfully organized 2 improvised comedies with the participation of nearly 100 young people in Hanoi. Through these art performances, young people received environmental messages in an interesting and humorous way, thereby taking small actions to reduce air pollution, protect the environment and improve personal health.
With the goal of communication to increase knowledge about air pollution and form habits to improve personal health through theatrical art form, Rotten Grapes group has conveyed the message of environmental protection in a new and creative way through theatrical art form.
In the upcoming time, the project will make 5 comedy videos of the environment to raise public awareness about environmental protection and sustainable development.
