According to the report “Preventing a lost decade: Urgent action to reverse the devastating impact of COVID-19 on children and young people” published by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the far-reaching impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is reversing achievements in addressing challenges that threaten children's development such as poverty and access to health and education.

In response, UNICEF continues to call for investments in social protection as well as comprehensive and sustainable recovery; ensuring access to education and nutrition for children; better prevention and response to crises such as famine, climate change, and natural disasters, etc. to protect children.
