This is the third time the working delegation of For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) has come to Tri Le 4 Primary School (Tri Le commune, Que Phong district, Nghe An province). Two times before, we had to ask the teachers to pick up by motorbikes due to rough route. This time, our truck arrived at the Huoi Xai 1 school to attend the groundbreaking ceremony.
Tri Le 4 Primary School has one main school located in Muong Long and 5 campuses stretching over Pha Ca Tun Range, 1,500 meter high compared to the sea level; about 35 km from the center of the mountainous district Que Phong, Nghe An province; 200 km from Vinh city. Established since 1982, for nearly 37 years, the school only has had male teachers who came here to work because of poor conditions and a dangerous road. By the end of 2018, the first female teacher came to teach at the school, who was the "daughter-in-law" of this border region, living right here. Principal Luong Van Nhan shared: “The roads are too difficult for female teachers to sustain!"
Teacher Va Y Lau - The first female teacher of Tri Le 4 Primary School, teaching at the Huoi Xai 1 school site.
Having experienced this road, we admired a lot about the teachers' efforts and sacrifices that have been determined to stick to the school for more than 30 years. If they did not think about bringing knowledge to the Mong ethnic children in Tri Le commune, the teachers might not have overcome frustrated times. Appreciating the hearts of teachers, VSF and sponsor - TH Group decided to support the improvement of teaching and living environment with the desire to reduce difficulties in teaching and nurturing the joy of coming to school every day of the children.
“Receiving the task of teaching in Tri Le 4, I was initially afraid because the work here was so hard. But seeing the other teachers holding on to the school, despite lots of hardship, I cannot leave. Since then I have been determined to stay in this school. We have received many donations and helps from the state and benefactors. After the completion of the work at Huoi Xai 1, 6 teachers and 72 students here will be taught and studied in spacious, safer classrooms, encouraging the teaching moral of us”- Principal Luong Van Nhan said.
Huoi Xai 1 school site is 6 km away from the main school. The entrance to the school is narrow and difficult to access. Shabby toilets and public buildings negatively affect the daily life of teachers and students here.
On the morning of May 21, VSF and construction unit held a groundbreaking ceremony to upgrade and repair Huoi Xai 1 school site of Tri Le 4 Primary School. After two surveys, VSF and construction unit have repeatedly discussed to provide the most effective construction plan, overcoming difficulties in moving to Tri Le and determining construction time in the summer, ensuring no influence to the teaching and learning of teachers and students here.
Mr. Ngo Huy Han - Representative of TH Group (white shirt) presented gifts to students at the school.
As a social-charity fund, with a mission to improve the physical and mental health of Vietnamese children, VSF has the same vision with TH Group in charity activities, including building many infrastructures to serve the study, travel and activities of children in disadvantaged areas. “The main school which concentrates many teachers are becoming more and more spacious. However, the school sites are still in a state of degradation. VSF and the TH Group chose to upgrade and renovate teaching and living spaces at Huoi Xai 1 school with the desire to bring better learning conditions, encourage the students to go to school and the teachers to continue to stick to the school. ”- Mrs. Tran Thi Nhu Trang, Director of For Vietnamese Stature Foundation shared.
With a total investment of 520 million VND from sponsor - TH Group, the project is expected to be constructed in two months, including upgrading and repairing three classrooms, building two dormitory rooms and public houses for teachers as well as renovating an old sanitation facility at the school site. The project is predicted to be completed in time with the start of the new school year for teachers and students here.
