Health care training session for workers

Recently, 40 trade union officials and health workers of 20 companies in Hai Phong’s industrial were trained to become proficient in accessing information skills related to nutrition, mental health, reproductive health. Especially, the training session also mentioned safe methods of contraception suitable to the physical condition of Vietnamese people.

This is an activity in the framework of “For Mother and Baby - For Vietnamese Stature” project - phase 4, which is implemented by For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) in collaboration with Hai Phong Women's Union and Hai Phong Labor Union. It is expected that in phase 4, there will be at least 3,000 employees improving their knowledge, skills, and practice in nutrition care, reproductive and mental health care, especially preventing maternity depression. These activities are to enhance the health and labor productivity of employees, and to contribute to building high-quality human resources for the factories in particular and the country in general.

Through group activities, participants also learned the skills of counseling/ information provision and mobilized workers to use safe sex and contraceptive methods. In particular, it is how to use the contraceptive support application and reproductive health care on mobile devices called “New Choice Reminder”.

Sharing after the training session, a health officer of Dinh Vang Company - Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan, said: “The experts helped me to improve my understanding of health care for myself. Through the training, I can share that useful knowledge with my relatives and employees in my company as well”.

It includes: Organizing 10 communication sessions on reproductive health and safe and suitable contraceptives for Vietnamese people for 1,500 employees; Organizing 05 communication sessions on nutrition care, especially for women before and during pregnancy, and children in the first 1,000 days of life for 750 employees; Organizing 05 communication sessions on mental health care, especially maternity depression for women during pregnancy, childbirth and child-rearing for 750 employees and the Union knowledge contests and project summaries.
