We visited N. at a hair salon, located in a small street in Hanoi. N. is a small girl with short haircut and a beautiful oval face. She keeps a proper mindset and pure innocence although she has been experiencing adversities in living conditions for a while.

Thanks to the Women's Union of Quang Ninh province, REACH organization and VSF know about the N.’s case (born in 2001). She is one among 8 children of a poor fisherman family. It stands to reason that she and her siblings are all not going to school on account of the poverty. In addition, N. and her sister are often assaulted sexually and beaten with an electric cable and hammer by their father.
Since 2014, it is beyond their suffering that N. and his eldest brother (born in 2000) decided to get away and looked for a job in restaurants along the seashore in Ha Long city. They would earn money to help their mom raise other siblings. N. and her eldest brother often need to change places to avoid being found by their father.
With the desire to learn a job for women’s beauty, REACH organization not only facilitates N. to participate in vocational training for free at the Center but supports part of her living expenses as well. VSF also join hands to sponsor a part of her living expense during 4-month apprenticeship period for N. from August 2018 to the end of December 2018.
N. shared: "I like going to class very much, there is nothing to do at weekends. I am looking forward to Monday to go to school." Having been asked about her feeling for Hanoi, she said Hanoi is new for her but she prefers going home because life in the countryside is more tranquil and familiar.
Looking at N.’s sparkling eyes and bright smile, we see the significance of the activities VSF is doing. In the upcoming period, VSF will have more activities to support children, so many difficult circumstances are supported practically and timely.
Sponsorship for cost of living of 2 children from difficult households
Thanks to the Quang Ninh Women's Union, VSF knows about the difficult lives of N. (born in 2001) and P. P. (born in 2003) and living under the poverty line. In P.’s circumstance, her mother left home because of her suffering from HIV / AIDS and her father died for HIV / AIDS. Currently, she lives with her grandmother but having not enough money to cover living expenses to continue studying at school.
VSF decided to sponsor them as follows: For N., living allowance is funded for 4 months during the vocational training course at REACH, from August 2018 to December 2018. For P., living expenses are sponsored in three high school years in Dong Trieu town - Quang Ninh province, from September 1st, 2018 to August 31st, 2021. Hope that they will have a brighter future path ahead with these grants.
