Situation
Amid the mountains of Quy Hop (Nghe An), the main school site of Ha Son primary school is filled each day with the cheerful voices of young students. Yet behind the joy of going to school for the 234 children - 95% of whom are from ethnic minority groups - lies an unfulfilled need: a schoolyard that is still raw ground, not leveled or concreted flat.
The curent schoolyard of Ha Son Primary School
It is the front yard of a new classroom building recently constructed by the Quy Hop District People's Committee using funding from a Program for the development of extremely difficult rural villages. The two-story building with six classrooms will serve as the central learning space for students from surrounding satellite schoolsites , where they will attend functional subject lessons in the 2025–2026 school year. However, due to limited investment at the time of construction, the schoolyard component had to be postponed. During recess, students still have to walk and play on uneven bare soil - muddy and slippery when it rains, dusty and harsh in the shining day. Even a light rain can turn the schoolyard into a slippery, muddy area, posing risks of falls and injuries in what should be one of the safest spaces for the children.
A small schoolyard, yet an essential condition to ensure the safety of the children each day they come to class. It is also a shared space - where they can play, move freely, join extracurricular activities, and develop holistically, both physically and mentally.
A new schoolyard brings the safe environment for students at school
With the desire to provide students in the highland region with a more complete and safe learning environment, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) is calling for community support to build a 330m² schoolyard, with a total cost of 70 million VND. Of this, VSF aims to raise 50 million VND from donors to fund the concrete paving of the schoolyard.
The remaining 20 million VND - for ground leveling and embankment work - will be contributed by the parents and teachers of Ha Son School, through both financial support and volunteer labor. Though they are highland residents facing difficult living conditions, they are still willing to give a hand for one simple reason: to give their children the chance to study in a better environment.
This is more than just a construction project - it is a journey of compassion. A place where people who have never met can still walk together toward a shared dream for children in the highlands.
Every contribution - no matter how small - can become a brick in this meaningful structure of kindness.
Join VSF in giving these students a sturdy, clean schoolyard, and beyond that, a safe environment to grow.
