40 drawings of children’s dream from the activity “Draw my dream” displayed in the exhibition area of “Autumn Camp” at Ban Lau primary school in the afternoon of October 1st brought an inspirational experience.

The stories and meanings behind the drawings were impressively presented by the children such as: a girl dreams of being a soccer player, a boy dreams of balance and sharing everything in family without distinction of male or female, and a dream of a world without prejudice, etc.

In addition, an improvisational theater was organized to help the children deal with the situations when they encountered gender stereotypes and gender norms in the family. With the participation of 6 teachers, the children were transformed into characters to convince parents to send their daughters to school and to let their sons share the housework. At the same time, the children also took action to seek help from influential people such as teachers, neighbors with successful children to continue to persuade more.

Surprisingly, from the boys and girls who do not even understand gender stereotypes, gender norms and gender equality, they now can memorize and observe their daily lives and come up with their dreams of "pioneer in promoting gender equality".

“With this Autumn Camp model, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) wishes to create an open and creative experience space; thereby, the basic knowledge about gender and gender equality becomes easier to understand, closer and more exciting to primary school students. Today, we are really happy to see that the children are ready to break the gender stereotypes circle in themselves and their families' - Ms. Tran Hong Diep - Deputy Director of VSF shared in her closing speech.

We would like to thank the teachers of Ban Lau primary school and the students who joined VSF in implementing a successful "Autumn Camp" program!
