"Men and women can both be spendthrift or not, it is not related to wide mouth!"

These are some of the words that children participating in the game booths at “Autumn Camp” shared with us this morning. 40 ethnic minority students at Ban Lau primary school, Muong Khuong district, Lao Cai province together went through 6 exciting games including:

 Area I KNOW:

Quick-witted united (distinguish the concept of gender and sex)

The talking board (distinguish gender stereotypes, gender norms and gender equality).

Pass the ball, say the name (recall concepts learnt from previous games).

 Area I SEE:

Look at the pictures & Catch the situations and Secret Gift Boxes (identify gender stereotypes and gender norms that still exist in family and community).

Draw my dream.

 One of the children’s favorite activities is “Draw my dream” which they express their future career dreams, expectations about family and society - where gender stereotypes and gender norms no longer exist.

 “I feel very happy when my students can confidently and openly share their point of views on gender equality. Sometimes we - the adults - still think that children didn’t know anything; but it is clear that through the activities this morning, they have shown that they can totally be pioneers in promoting gender equality if they are trusted, supported and encouraged.” - Mr. Doan Van Chu, Principal of Ban Lau primary school shared.
