Situation
Before the implementation of the "Growing up with mountainous preschool students" project in 5 school sites of Na O, Khau Nong (Thach Lam Kindergarten) and Ban La, Khau De, Sang Xoay (Thai Son Kindergarten), Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province, the students were without the provision of semi-boarding meals. Every school day, they had to bring their own meager lunches, typically just plain rice, sometimes with some vegetables. Due to inadequate nutrition, 100% of preschool students face issues like stunted growth, and underweight. The dropout rate in the afternoon session reached up to 80%.
After 4 years of implementation, the project has undergone positive changes, particularly regarding the health and development of students in these five schools in Cao Bang province. Thanks to the free nutritious meals, during the 2023-2024 school year children benefited from the project with an average weight gain of 2.2kg and an increase in height of 4.1cm. To sustain these positive changes, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation officially launch a fundraising campaign for the semi-boarding meal support project for ethnic minority preschool students in Cao Bang province for the 2024-2025 school year.
In the upcoming school year, the project will expand its semi-boarding meal support model to Lung Chang School, under Thai Son Kindergarten, Bao Lam district, Cao Bang province. With this expansion, the "Growing up with Mountainous Preschool Students" project in Cao Bang province will sponsor a total of 6 schools with approximately 231 ethnic preschool students.
To ensure the quality of semi-boarding meals for children, the support amount per child has been adjusted from 1.7 million VND to 2 million VND per school year. This translates to an increase in daily meal expenditure from 8,500 VND to 11,000 VND per child, covering both lunch and an afternoon snack.
The total budget for the project in the 2024-2025 school year in Cao Bang province is estimated at 540 million VND, with 462 million VND allocated for semi-boarding meals. Currently, the project has secured full sponsorship for the semi-boarding meals at the Sang Xoay school from the donation of TH School. Additionally, the project has received funding from other organizations and individuals for facility construction, repair and support for teachers involved in project implementation.
Therefore, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation officially launches a fundraising campaign for the "Growing up with Mountainous Preschool Students" project for the 2024-2025 school year in Cao Bang province with a target amount of 382,630,000 VND. This entire amount will be used to provide semi-boarding meals to children, ensuring they receive nutritious meals to improve their physical health and cognitive development.
With just 2 million VND, a child will receive an average of 360 semi-boarding meals (including lunch and a snack) throughout one school year.
Sponsors can contribute any amount of money or provide semi-boarding meal support for one or more children. Detailed information on the educational progress and health of the children will be updated every 5 months.
Let's join For Vietnamese Stature Foundation in supporting the children in their education journey.
