Inauguration of a house of affection in Hai Phong

In the afternoon of September 11th 2019, An Duong District Women's Union in collaboration with Quoc Tuan Commune Women's Union held the inauguration and handover of the house of affection to Ms. Nguyen Thi Don's family - Kieu Ha 1 village, Quoc Tuan commune, An Duong district, Hai Phong city.

Attending the inauguration ceremony were Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuan - Deputy Head of District Committee for Public Affairs; Ms. Ta Thi Ngoc - Vice Chairman of the District Women's Union; representatives of committees, authorities, agencies and unions of Quoc Tuan commune.

Starting from June 7th 2019, after 3 months, the solid house of 50m2 was completed. The total budget for the house was 155 million VND, of which Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank and For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) supported 25 million VND, the remaining was granted by the local authorities, agencies and unions of Quoc Tuan commune.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Don's family has 2 people, she herself is mentally ill and unable to walk. Currently, she is living with her old, weak mother born in 1926. Before the house was inaugurated, Ms. Don and her mother had lived in a cramped, dilapidated house with peeling and damp walls of about 10 square meters and has no place of worship. All daily activities of Ms. Don are taken care of by her elderly mother.

The house carries profound humanity, which not only helps her family establish themselves but also express the noble gesture of the community to the disadvantaged.
