"Since having lunch at school, the children have always been happy and full of energy during studying and participating in class activities. They also attend school more regularly and always want to go to class."
That is the sharing from Ms. Be Nong Thi Kim Chi, a teacher at Lung Chang School, under Thai Son Kindergarten in Cao Bang province. She reflects on the positive changes in her young students after nearly one semester of the project “Growing up with mountainous children” being implemented at the school.
Lung Chang School is one of the most underprivileged school of Thai Sơn Kindergarten. According to the teachers, before the program was implemented at the school, the student did not have hot meals. Especially on wet, cold rainy days, the meals that they brought from home would often turn cold or spoil, posing risks to their health and food safety.
The 2024–2025 school year marks the first year of the project “Growing up with mountainous children” has been implemented at Lung Chang, bringing hot lunches every day with vegetables, meat, and afternoon snacks. Thanks to this, the rate of students attending school has improved significantly, they have more energy for learning and playing activities. They no longer have to worry about their lunch or snack meals.
"Seeing the children eat well, sleep well, and study well, the teachers are really happy. We are happy knowing they now have high-quality, nutritious meals and the strength to study," shared Ms. Kim Chi.
In addition to Lung Chang, the project is also supporting meals for other schools, including Na O, Khau Noong, Ban La, Khau De and Sang Xoay. These warm and nourishing meals are provided thanks to the trust and contributions of sponsors in the project “Growing up with mountainous children.” Their support provides motivation for the children to stay healthy, attend school with joy, and focus on their studies—making every day at school a happy day!
