“Previously, I thought that my husband did all the big tasks in the house, and the housework I was doing was just small tasks not worth mentioning. However, after the training course, I understand that every job is equally important.”

“I will talk with my husband to redistribute household chores, so that he will share the housework and I will have more time to rest.”

“I think raising a boy or a girl involves similar efforts, there should be no discrimination.”

Those are just three among many sharings of participants after the training course on December 9 in Bac Ha district (Lao Cai province). The training course on gender equality in family economic development was organized by For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) in collaboration with the Lao Cai Provincial Women's Union (WU), Bac Ha district WU and the Thai Giang Pho commune authority. This is one of the activities of under the “No voice - No equal future” project implemented since May 2023 with funding from TH Group and VSF's “Spreading true happiness” program.

Participants in the training course were 30 H'Mong ethnic women in difficult circumstances, coming from 5 villages in the Thai Giang Pho commune. Through group activities, presentations, and debates, the women jointly identified and analyzed:

- Gender-based discrimination in task allocation, decision making, and benefits.

- Gender-based discrimination in parenting, including proper nutrition and education opportunities.

In addition, participants jointly developed an agenda to promote men’s participation in housework and child care.
