With support from VSF and other philanthropists, hopefully, the family of Mr. Thang and Ms. Huong can overcome this difficult period.

The family of Mr Thang and Ms Huong (located in Me Linh, Hanoi) is facing financial hardships in the commune. Since a stroke at 4 months old, Huong got half of her body paralyzed, causing inadequate health conditions to work. This has made medicine her companion for life with monthly blood transfusions at the Institute of Hematology. Her husband, Mr Thang, has rheumatoid arthritis, which causes his body to fold, and walk with difficulty. However, illness could not discourage them from working for a family that is always full of laughter of an about-to-be three years old child.

Difficulties clung to them when Mr Thang's illness got worse over time, his skeleton structure folded down and might squeeze his internal organs. Many times, he had to use strong pain relievers when the weather changes. His family had to loan money to let him see a doctor. Professors and doctors at 108 Military Hospital had offered him a surgery to realign the spine and replace the hip by an artificial one. With an income of only 2.5 million VND/month after losing jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a small child to raise, the couple could not afford even a medically-insured surgery.

Knowing their circumstance, VFS had sponsored 20 million VND to support Thang with his surgery. With support from VSF and other philanthropists, hopefully, the operation can go smoothly to restore his physical strength and vision; thereby helping the family of Mr Thang and Ms Huong can overcome this period of difficulty.
