Under the guidance of Ms. Tran Hong Diep, Director of VSF and an expert in gender and community development, and Dr. Nguyen Thi Chinh, a psychologist and expert in gender and reproductive health, participants received valuable insights and data on risks that teenagers might face such as early sexual activity, abortion, school violence, and child abuse. The speakers and parents also discussed important topics, including sex education skills, identifying types of abuse and how to prevent them.

In addition to theoretical knowledge, the webinar offered interactive scenarios where parents had to respond to sensitive questions from children about topics such as early romantic relationships, sexual relationships, and same-sex attraction. These exercises gave parents the chance to openly share the challenges they face in parenting, like how to make their children feel safe sharing personal matters. The experts guided parents through each case, offering advices on active listening, non-judgmental responses, and effective communication - all aimed at helping children feel confident to express their thoughts and concerns.
“Beautiful teenage years” is just the first stop of the Scarlet Sails project this year. In the coming time, the project will continue with a series of meaningful activities that aim to connect families and raise awareness about child protection, including:
Establishing a children’s volunteer group and providing training in organizing community activities.
Hosting two workshops for BAC A BANK staff’s children on topics such as sex education and reproductive health, along with practical self-protection skills.
- Organizing a parent-child dialogue event to foster mutual understanding and connection across generations. This activity will also serve as opportunities to raise funds for training sessions on child protection for children in especially difficult circumstances.
