“Thanks to the training class, I know how to divide food portions for my children more reasonably to ensure nutrition, helping them be healthy and develop better.”
“For the first time, I received formal training on first aid and also practiced directly under the guidance of doctors. This helps me feel more secure and confident when caring for and ensuring the safety of students.”
“Previously, I didn't know that I had to clean my tongue when brushing my teeth. Now I know and will go back to guide my parents to take care of my younger brother at home.”

These are 3 of the many positive responses from parents, students and teachers participating in the training course on Community Medicine organized by For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Ha Noi Medical University. On December 13-14, 12 training classes were organized with the participation of 230 teachers, parents, and students.

This is the 3rd year VSF has cooperated with Ha Noi Medical University to implement this training content within the framework of the Happy school project.

Attending the program, participants accessed four main contents, including: prevention of drowning, injuries and first aid; reasonable nutrition for students; dental care for children; and school psychology.

The training classes were implemented in an interactive format, creating a space for teachers and parents to exchange familiar situations in the process of caring for and educating children. From the daily meals of students to how to listen and observe psychological changes in children, the nutrition and school psychology contents were shared in connection with the actual experiences of the participants themselves. Parents and teachers were also guided by doctors to use the Vanderbilt scale to initially assess the risk level of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in children, thereby better understanding when to continue monitoring, supporting or seeking appropriate professional advice.

Especially in the content on drowning prevention, injury and first aid, teachers and parents directly participated in practicing emergency response operations under the guidance of doctors from Ha Noi Medical University. Participants directly practiced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or handling foreign body airway obstruction on models, thereby helping them become more confident when facing situations that may occur in daily life and the school environment.

For students, the program focused on dental care and hygiene. Through age-appropriate interactive activities and games, they were guided to practice brushing their teeth correctly, recognizing the importance of daily oral hygiene and forming personal self-care habits from an early age.

Through training activities, VSF hopes to contribute to equipping teachers, parents, and students with practical knowledge and skills to care for physical and mental health in a proactive, scientific, and sustainable way. This is also an important link in the effort to build a safe and healthy school environment, where every teacher feels secure in teaching, every parent is more confident in accompanying, and students can develop comprehensively.
