29 children in Hai Phong equipped with knowledge and skills on comprehensive sexuality education and child protection.

 The training was facilitated by Ms. Tran Hong Diep, an expert in Gender and Child Protection, and Dr. Nguyen Thi Chinh, an expert in Psychology, Gender, and Reproductive Health.

 During the training, the children systematically explored topics including gender, sexuality, physical changes during puberty, reproductive health, and safe sex. They were also equipped with skills to identify and prevent common forms of violence against children, including school violence, online violence, and sexual abuse. Beyond identifying potential risks, the training helped them understand the consequences, learn how to respond, and know where to seek support when needed.

 The training content was delivered through interactive activities such as games, competitions, scenario-based exercises, debates, and group discussions. These activities helped the children remember what they learned more easily while giving them opportunities to practice in class, share their perspectives, and work together to find ways to respond to potentially unsafe situations in everyday life.

 More importantly, the training aimed to create a safe space where the children could feel comfortable asking questions, talking about their concerns, and understanding the importance of speaking up when they feel unsafe.

“Growing up is a journey filled with changes, questions, and challenges that every child will experience. Through this training, we hope to accompany the children on that journey, helping them gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to better understand themselves, protect themselves, and grow up in safety and care,” shared Pham Van Anh, Director of BAC A BANK Hai Duong Branch.

 The two-day training was just the beginning of a longer journey.

Tran Hong Diep, Director of VSF and a facilitator of the training, shared: “Our goal is not simply to equip children with more knowledge and skills to protect themselves, but also to encourage conversations between parents and their children. A training course can only accompany children for a short period of time, while their families will be by their side for much longer. When parents and children are willing to listen, share, and learn together, child protection can become more effective.”

The training was organized as part of the Scarlet sails 2026 project, jointly implemented by VSF and BAC A BANK. In the coming months, the project will organize another training course with similar content at a school in an underserved area of Hai Phong City, helping expand access to knowledge and skills in comprehensive sexuality education and child protection for more students.
