On November 16, 2020, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF), Labor Confederation of Hai Phong City and Women's Union held a Knowledge Contest and the Closing Ceremony of phase 4 of the project "For mothers and babies - For a Vietnamese Stature"

After 9 months of implementation, the project "For mothers and babies - For a Vietnamese Stature" phase 4 has reached 3,698 employees in Hai Phong through training, communication and knowledge contests, thereby increasing the total number of beneficiaries after 4 years of implementation to 13,358 people.

Specifically, during phase 4, the project held 20 communication sessions for workers, 1 training course for health workers, business union officials, and a knowledge contest with the participation of many companies.

Facilitated and coordinated by the Trade Union and the Board of Directors of 14 companies, the communication sessions were carried out in the factory premises such as hall, factory, cafeteria, to facilitate labor involved. Workers will improve their knowledge, skills and practice in reproductive health care, mental health, and nutrition for women of reproductive age as well as children in their golden age.

Notably, two companies located in two industrial zones, VSIP and NOMURA allowed workers in 4 factories to attend those communication sessions. This illustrates the cooperation of enterprises in enhancing knowledge and skills for employees. Meanwhile, these communication sessions have also attracted the participation of thousands of male and female employees.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Tran Thi Nhu Trang - Director of VSF expressed her sincere thanks to the representatives of the units and employees participating in the project: “Surveys were conducted at communication sessions, stating that employees answered 95% of the questions about healthcare knowledge correctly after listening to the project experts' consultation. Previously, this figure was only 45-50%. We hope that these encouraging results will not only help workers gain more knowledge, but also contribute to changing healthcare behavior for themselves and surroundings for a better future of employees in particular, for a Vietnamese stature in general. "

In addition, the new feature of Phase 4 is that besides direct communication from project experts, workers and their relatives also receive free consultation through the New Choice Electric Contraceptive App, which will improve the ability to practice reproductive health care for workers who are busy with daily tasks at the company, and are at risk of forgetting to take oral contraceptives on time. In addition to reminding employees to use oral contraceptives every day on time and on dosage, this app is also supported by a team of experts, obstetricians and obstetricians full of expertise and experience of the project. Through forums, Q&A and interactive games, information about protecting health, psychology, and family happiness will also be fully consulted from experienced experts quickly and efficiently. As of November 2020, there were nearly 10,000 downloads, membership registration and use of the application, which indicates the response of the employees and the impact of a useful application on the community.

“The presentation method of the project's experts is fun, easy to understand and inspires employees to follow. Thanks to that, the project has also achieved its communication target. We hope that VSF will continue to exploit resources and provide technology for the project to continue implementing the next phases in coordination with the Hai Phong City Women's Union ”- Ms. Pham Hai Yen , President of the City Women's Union of Hai Phong evaluated the project's effectiveness at the ceremony.

At the event, a Knowledge Contest was held to consolidate the necessary knowledge for employees at the companies who had been participating in the project for 9 months. 5 teams from companies discussed topics regarding nutrition, reproductive health, mental health and condom wearing (increasing employees' awareness of using safe contraception for effective family planning). In addition, Aurora VN Footwear Industry Co., Ltd. also performs Skit "Prevention of Inflammation" in order to transmit the message of reproductive health care which is the responsibility of both husband and wife.

In 2020, the project will continue to receive sponsorship from TH Group, DKT International, Golden Choice Company Limited (Golden Choice) with the brand Newchoice birth control pill & OK condom and gifts from Hoa Linh Pharmaceutical Company.
