Complete the training course “Storytelling”

Those are some feedbacks from more than 30 attendees in the training course: "Storytelling," which was organized yesterday, February 18th, by VSF for young journalists and communication officers. Mr. Dinh Duc Hoang - Deputy Director of UNESCO Information Centre, former editor of VnExpress and Labour Newspaper, an expert who possesses years of experience in the field of journalism and multimedia marketing, who directly ran the training course.

“The course provided knowledge which I have not known before. And also gave me the inspiration and how to create an attractive story from the most ordinary materials”.

“The course helped me to think about the rules of story arrangement, how to ask questions without missing information, the rules of vivid description for readers”.

“I was really fond of comprehensible and vivid examples of the lectures. After the training course, I think I should make use of the corpus of various fields, especially Vietnamese literature”.

"Storytelling" is the first activity of the initiative’s "No Voice - No Equal Future" framework, with the expectation of sharing new skills, knowledge and perspectives of storytelling for young journalists and communication officers. The trainees of the course are journalists working in many journalism units: VTV, VOV, Tien Phong, Dan Viet, etc and communication officers from development projects.

During a training day, the trainees had learnt about: What is a story?; How can we arrange the context - character - storylineto create a good story; What are the reverse effects of overusing adjectives in storytelling?. Besides, how important the element “ struggle” is in a story is also enthusiastically discussed by the trainees and the trainer.

An initiative “No Voice - No Equal Future” belonging to For Vietnamese Stature Foundation which gets budget financing from the US Embassy in Vietnam - Alumni Small Grant, has been implemented in Van Ho district, Son La, since October 2022. Besides, the reciprocal budget is deducted from the profit made by the mooncake fundraising program in 2021.
