With the “Nhà nhiều cột (Multi-pillars home)” poem, Mrs. Tran Hong Diep, Director of For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF), was awarded the FIRST PRIZE in the poetry writing contest on gender equality organized by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Vietnam.

Mrs. Diep’s poem is also a meaningful response to the “Let’s Orange with VSF 2023 - Ending violence against women and girls” campaign.

At the awards ceremony on December 8, Mrs. Diep shared: “Equality or gender equality is not a dogmatic or big concept, but simply LOVE and RESPECT differences, and be KIND to everyone.”

Poetry and songwriting contest on gender equality was organized by UN Women in 2023 to enrich Vietnamese poetry and music composition on this topic, foster diverse modes of communication, amplify community engagement and responses, convey meaningful messages about gender equality, and eliminate all forms of discrimination and gender-based violence.

At the awards ceremony, Ms. Caroline Nyamayemombe, Acting Chief Representative of UN Women in Vietnam, said: “Music and poetry have a special ability to touch the souls of human beings, overcoming all boundaries. They also inspire and motivate solidarity in creating a fairer and more equal world for all individuals in society.

The contest attracted more than 300 poetries and over 40 songs from authors of different ages all over the country.
