On January 20, 2022, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation, Nong Thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet newspaper, and Momo held the ceremony to kickoff the construction of the school site in Coc Dong village of Coc Re Half-boarding Primary School for Ethnic Minority Students (Coc Re commune, Xin Man district, Ha Giang province).
252 students studying at the school site are from the Nung, Mong, and Tay ethnic minorities. Most of them are from poor and near-poor households.
In 2021, the school site was badly degraded. “Two classrooms were dilapidated and crumbled. Their walls were peeling and falling, and the doors were destroyed by moths. To ensure the safety of teachers and students, we had to use the commune’s culture house as a temporary classroom,” shared Mr. Nguyen Van Kien, principal of Coc Re school.
The sum of VND 580 million was successfully raised from nearly 583,000 “golden pig” donations and cash via MoMo from hundreds of thousands of sponsors, with the companionship of BAC A BANK. Under the plan, the construction will be implemented with 2 classrooms, lavatories, and fortified auxiliary items to welcome the students to the new year 2022.
On this occasion, the delegation also gave preschool and primary school students gifts including confectionery, winter clothes, wooly hats, and scarfs.
