April 9, 2026, became a special milestone as M.A.D and D.T.T.H were both discharged from the hospital in the joy of their families after successful heart surgeries. Few people know that behind this long-awaited return home were surgeries costing tens of millions of VND - an enormous financial burden for both families.

M.A.D (born in 2020) was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. Due to the child’s health condition, M.A.D’s mother had to stop working to provide full-time care, leaving the family dependent on the father’s income alone. Previously, M.A.D underwent surgery to implant a blood conduit at a young age. However, as the child grew older, the original conduit became unsuitable, affecting blood circulation from the heart to the lungs and making replacement surgery necessary. Although health insurance covered part of the cost, the remaining expenses still placed significant financial pressure on the family.

Meanwhile, D.T.T.H (born in 2013), an ethnic Mong child, had been living with a heart condition for many years without access to treatment. Raised by a single mother, the family relied solely on income from farming. As the condition worsened and D.T.T.H required constant care, the mother had to stop working, making the surgery costs even more difficult to afford.

After receiving information about the families’ circumstances from E Hospital, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) quickly connected with an anonymous donor to support the children’s surgery expenses. The total support amount reached VND 94,031,965, including VND 54,888,806 for M.A.D and VND 39,143,159 for D.T.T.H. Thanks to timely support and the dedicated care of doctors and medical staff, both children successfully underwent surgery and recovered well.

In letters sent to VSF and the donor, the families expressed heartfelt gratitude for the timely support that helped them overcome an incredibly difficult period:

“Thanks to this support, our family has been relieved of a financial burden, and my child has overcome a dangerous stage,” shared D.T.T.H’s family.

“My child has congenital heart disease and needed a second surgery, but due to our difficult financial circumstances, we could not afford it. Thanks to the doctors and this invaluable support, our child was able to successfully undergo surgery,” shared M.A.D’s family.

VSF would like to express sincere gratitude to the anonymous donor and the medical team at E Hospital for joining hands to provide timely treatment opportunities, giving these two children a healthier and more hopeful beginning for the journey ahead.
