On May 13-14, 2023, in the "Scarlet Sails” project, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) collaborated with the Women's Union of Hai Phong city to organize two training sessions on "Child sexual abuse prevention" for 30 parents and 30 teachers at An Tien Commune Secondary School, An Lao District, Hai Phong City.
Mrs. Tran Hong Diep - Deputy Director of VSF was the facilitator of these training courses.
These two training sessions not only helped parents and teachers recognize the concepts and behaviors of child sexual abuse, but also emphasized the importance of preventing such abuse. Participants also learned practical necessary methods to safeguard students and their children.
"I believe that in the future, it is necessary for the school to establish a counseling team to support and disseminate knowledge about child sexual abuse prevention to students."
"After the course, I now know about comprehensive methods for children regarding psychological, legal, and medical aspects when there are any suspicion of child sexual abuse, as well as for the survivors of such abuse."
"We must know methods to protect our children since they are young, recognize threats from all cases, and understand the psychological aspects of their age to choose appropriate educational methods."
"Our children also have the ability to protect themselves. Our important task is to identify their strengths to improve, equipping them with skills to address their weaknesses."
These are a few sharings from parents and teachers after completing two training sessions.
These two training sessions are also the final activities of Phase 2 of the "Scarlet Sails” project in An Lao District. In June, VSF is expected to collaborate with the Women's Union of Hai Phong city to organize a forum to amplify the voices and participation of children in preventing violence in cyberspace. This is one of the positive impacts of the project aimed at creating a safe and equitable environment for holistic child development.
We sincerely thank the Women's Union of Hai Phong city, An Lao District, and An Tien Commune for their partnership in the "Scarlet Sails” project. We also appreciate the support from authorities in Hai Phong city and local schools, enabling the project to reach and contribute to positive changes for children.
