Improving the skills on providing information for key officials in Vinh Phuc Industrial Zones

Taking place in the two days of 21-22 May 2019, the project "For mother and baby - For Vietnamese stature" phase 3 implemented the training course on skills to provide information about reproductive health, nutrition and mental health care for 40 trade union officials and health officials in Vinh Phuc industrial zones.

Following the success in 2017 and 2018, the project "For mother and baby - For Vietnamese stature" this year officially came to employees working in three industrial zones in Vinh Phuc province namely Khai Quang, Binh Xuyen and Ba Thien. It is expected that in the phase 3, at least 3,000 employees will be able to improve their knowledge, skills and practices on nutrition care and reproductive health care - safe and appropriate contraceptive methods suitable for physical condition of Vietnamese people, and mental health / depression prevention.

In 8 months of implementation (from May 2019 to December 2019), the project "For mother and baby - For Vietnamese stature", phase 3 is expected to organize specific activities including: 02-day training course for 40 health care and trade union officials on information providing skills; 20 communication sessions for employees about knowledge and skills of nutrition care, reproductive health - safe sex and mental health for women in reproductive age; social marketing program of contraceptives and condoms for employees; free ambulatory reproductive health counseling and examination for 800 female workers; presenting 4,000 gifts of health care products by Hoa Linh Pharma and 12,000 glasses of TH true MILK from TH Group to employees.

On 21 May 2019, immediately after the project launch, the training course on skills to provide information about reproductive health - safe sex, part of the project "For mother and baby - For Vietnamese stature" this year has received many positive feedback from participating officials.

Obstetrician and Gynecologist Tran Thi Minh Tam with a fascinating expression drew the attention of the participants on the topic of reproductive health - safe sex.

"The female reproductive system has 13 parts, and all the parts can be infected. So women have 13 more illnesses than men. ”- Dr. Minh Tam started her lecture.

On the morning of 22 May 2019, a training course on mental health took place with a lively and open atmosphere with experienced sharing from Master of Psychology Nguyen Thi Chinh and real life stories of the workers.

The main contents of the training include: basic issues of stress, strategy development and practice of a number of ways to reduce stress for themselves and their colleagues.

Following the morning training, trade union officials and health officials  in Vinh Phuc industrial zones continued to participate in nutrition lectures, led by Master Le Thi Thu Ha - Lecturer at Hanoi University of Public Health.

Not only the female but also the male officials listened attentively, participated enthusiastically and together shared a lot of their own experiences on issues such as: nutrition for children in the first 1000 days, nutrition for mother and baby before, during and after birth.

Questions, concerns or mis-nutritional care methods were also answered by Mrs. Ha and she provided appropriate advices for each case.

After the training session, trade union officials and health officials shared many positive feedback on the training content.

Mrs. Dao Thi Hong Van - Interflex Vina’s trade union official said: “The content of today's training session is very meaningful, equipping mothers with important and useful mental health knowledge to help reduce stress, thereby taking better care of children and having a better family life.”
