On April 7 2022, the project of upgrading and renovating Hamlet 4 Branch - Xuan Hung Preschool in Xuan Loc district, Dong Nai province, was officially inaugurated to help 100 Cham ethnic preschool students have a fortified and safe school.

The project was completed with the fully upgraded kitchen and toilet area, waterproofing treatment for roofs, repainting of classrooms, wall cladding, and porch installation.

At the program, the charity group presented gifts to the school and students. The gifts include 3 standing fans, 1 rice cooker, 37 servings of TH True Milk...

The total value of the program is more than VND 350 million.

At the inauguration ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Ca - Principal of Xuan Hung Preschool said that this school site was built in 2001. Since then, water stagnation has occurred several times in the rainy season as there was no drainage, and water overflows into the classrooms. The parents have been voicing their concern over the situation and hope for a better learning environment for their children.

"Knowing that there would be an investigating team coming to the school site and they would like to sponsor to repair the facilities here, teachers and parents are elated. We would like to send our deep thanks to sponsors," Ms. Tran Thi Ca said.

Hamlet 4 Branch - Xuan Hung Preschool (Xuan Loc - Dong Nai) is located in an area where more than 90% of Cham ethnic people reside with about 500 households, corresponding to 2,200 people.

The facilities were built more than 20 years ago and have not been repaired regularly, so many items have been degraded, affecting the teaching and learning of teachers and students. Meanwhile,  the expense of upgrading and renovating this school site is not mentioned in the local budget plan for the next 5 years.

At the end of 2021, Nong thon Ngay Nay/Dan Viet newspaper, VSF, and ADM Cares Foundation conducted an examination of the Hamlet 4 branch and decided to support the solidification of this branch in order to create a safe and secure learning environment for local students.

“We’re honored to be part of this meaningful project and to take an active role in building our communities with like-minded individuals and organization partners. Education is one of our ADM Cares focus areas and through our contribution, we hope to enable a beneficial environment that supports the children’s education,” said Mr. Benjamin Sattelmaier, General Manager, Ag Services & Oilseeds, ADM Vietnam.

ADM is a global leader in human and animal nutrition and the world's leading producer and processor of agricultural products. Through ADM Cares  Foundation and social security programs from businesses, this group strives for stability and development for the community in the area. ADM aims to fund initiatives and organizations that promote meaningful social, economic and environmental progress.

During the construction and renovation of the school, ADM's staff volunteered to directly participate in a number of jobs at the construction site, including transporting materials for leveling the playground, cleaning and painting fence, gate and classroom doors.

Connecting with MoMo e-wallet users (mostly young people) to support the project also shows the community's interest in disadvantaged areas, helping to spread the culture of sharing and spirit of “The intact leaves protect the tattered ones” (Vietnamese proverb that encapsulates the altruistic nature of the people), thereby contributing to better learning conditions for ethnic children nationwide. After 15 days of launching, more than 125,000 people have contributed to this project.

The project of upgrading and renovating the Hamlet 4 branch was inaugurated in nearly a month of construction to the joy of hundreds of preschool children and local people.

As a teacher who has been with this school for many years, Ms. Tran Thi Tham shared: Many years ago, this place still lacked many conditions in terms of equipment, especially the facilities are not secure when the rainy season comes, which affects the teachers and students’ health.

"Watching the school site I teach be renovated, I, as well as many student’s parents, am very happy and not worried anymore about flooding when it rains. Parents and teachers feel secure at work" - Ms. Tham expressed.

As a social charity and non-profit foundation with a mission to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), VSF has been conducting many volunteer and development activities, including the construction of many civil works to help better learning conditions, travel, and living of children in disadvantaged areas.

By mobilizing resources from domestic and international organizations, VSF has carried out many meaningful works nationwide. In 2021, the cooperation with ADM once again affirms VSF's prestige in community service.
