The annual observance of the International Day of People with disabilities was proclaimed in 1992 by United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
The theme for the year 2020: "Building back better: towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 world by, for and with persons with disabilities". Disability inclusion is becoming increasingly important, especially when people with disabilities (account for 15% of the population world) are often being neglected and suffer the hardest during COVID-19 pandemic.
Emphasizing on disability inclusion and development, VSF has organised many activities to support the livelihood of people with disabilities across the country by providing grants for their living or surgery expenses. Besides, the “School Nutrition” program was held in Cao Bang to improve nutritional status and the stature of children with disabilities here. In addition, VSF has collaborated with Vocational and Training Centres for Children with Intellectual and Mobility Disabilities to sell their hand-made products on the "Charity Fair" held weekly on VSF's Facebook fan page; along with organising occasional picnics and selling Lunar new year's Red envelopes, etc.
Let's join hands with VSF in the promotion of disabilities inclusion and stability to contribute to the development of Vietnam.
