Introducing First Prize winner in Online Newspaper Category of “Pioneering Women Journalist for the Environment” Award

The series focused on reflecting the unhealthy practices of Vietnamese people when using plastic bags; plastic collection and recycling; plastic bag production in garbage capitals around Hanoi such as Bac Ninh and Hung Yen. A boatload of plastic bags is discharged from residential landfills, garbage from electronics and garment companies or imported from abroad, etc. Through crude and dirty processes, brand-new plastic bags are brought back to life, serving all the needs of users.

The series was implemented with the aim of raising awareness in the community of protecting the environment and limiting the use of plastic bags. At the same time, the policy limitations were also mentioned, such as low selling prices in line with environmental protection tax rates for plastic bags; confusion between plastic products, plastic bags from virgin plastic and recycled plastic.
