Now, we have supportive policies for waste recycling, but there is a lack of specific guidelines for accessing incentives under the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection and implementation guideline

That is one of the sharings of Ms. Kim Thi Thuy Ngoc - Head of International Cooperation Planning Department, Institute of Strategy, Policy on Natural Resources and Environment (ISPONRE) - Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment at the dialogue on plastics and plastic waste which was organized on February 28 by For Vietnamese Stature Foundation.

Ms. Ngoc shared information related to policies and laws about plastic waste management in Vietnam and the policies on waste management are continuing to be improved, especially after the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 approved.

To implement this roadmap, the State has policies to encourage and promote waste recycling. Ms. Ngoc also added that economic tools for environmental protection activities are the basis for mobilizing resources for environmental protection activities and plastic waste recycling activities.

However, Ms. Ngoc also pointed out the limitations, which are the lack of specific guidelines for accessing incentives; lack of guidance on the selection of recycling technology, solid waste treatment; lack of standards and regulations for recycled products. Regulations related to recycling responsibilities and handling responsibilities of manufacturers, importers, producing organizations and individuals need more specific guidance to be able to apply in practice
