During the last days of staying at the hospital after heart surgery, the room of little L.A.D. was always filled with laughter. The little boy from Lao Cai was curious about everything around him, loved playing with doctors and nurses, and was always lively and energetic, making everyone who met him adore him.

Few people knew that not long before, his family had gone through a very stressful time after discovering that D. had congenital heart disease.

His family mainly earns a living from farming, so their life is still full of difficulties. D.’s father also has congenital heart disease and has to use a pacemaker, so when they learned that their son needed to go to Hanoi for treatment, the family became even more worried.

“I also have heart disease myself, so when we found out that our son’s heart had abnormalities, our family was very concerned. Heart treatment is expensive while our family conditions are still difficult. But we only hoped that our son could receive the best treatment, so we still tried our best to bring him to Hanoi following the doctors’ instructions. When we learned that he needed surgery, we were extremely worried, but later, when we were told that a benefactor would support us, we were so happy,” shared Mr. L.D.S., D.’s father.

According to doctors, D. has congenital heart disease that causes his heart to work overtime and makes it difficult for blood to flow to the lungs. Without timely treatment, the disease could have long-term effects on his health and development.

Fortunately, D.’s surgery was successful thanks to the support of benefactor C.H.D through the connection of VSF, after receiving information about the case from E Hospital.

The doctor who directly performed the surgery said, “The child is recovering well and the wound is healing quickly. The surgery was carried out at a very suitable time, helping increase the possibility of completely treating the disease so that later he can grow up and live healthily like other children.”

For Mrs. C.T.H., D.’s mother, even the small changes after the surgery were enough to make the family feel much more relieved. She happily shared that after the surgery, D. has been eating and sleeping better, becoming more cheerful and crying less. Watching their son play innocently in the hospital room, what his parents wish for now is very simple: that he can grow up healthy, study, and play like other children his age.

Thanks to the timely support from the benefactor and the dedication of the doctors and medical staff, another child has had the opportunity to overcome an important surgery and grow up with a healthier heart.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to benefactor C.H.D and the doctors and medical staff of E Hospital for accompanying VSF so that D. could receive timely treatment. Every act of sharing not only helps a child overcome illness but also brings hope and faith to the whole family on the journey ahead.
