On 7/3/2019, Lo Van Khay’s heart surgery was successful beyond expectation. Both For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) and Vietnam’s National Children’s Hospital were extremely glad witnessing Khay’s recovery procedure, this has brought him home earlier than others, in the endless joy of his family.

Lo Van Khay was diagnosed with congenital heart disease, ventricular septal defect, narrow valve and right ventricular outflow. Via VSF, Mr.Cao Hoai Duc and Mr.Nguyen Duy Hung – Khay’s donors agreed to donate 50 million VND for his surgery and recovery procedure.

Khay recovered quickly after the surgery, faster than other similar cases at Vietnam’s National Children’s Hospital.

One month after the day, we revisited Khay and his family in his follow-up care at Vietnam’s National Children’s Hospital. He looked bright, ruddy and happily shared with us: “My incision is longer than 20cm, i no longer feel pain. At home, mom cooked Pho for me and i now feel much better.”

The total cost of the surgery is 78.334.071 VND. With the support by health insurance, patient had to pay only 5.605.455 VND including costs of the surgery and medication.

The cost rate was lower than the estimated budget that the hospital had discussed with us at the beginning. So that, after a discussion, according to the two donors, via VSF, beside supporting Khay with the mentioned essential costs and 3 million for him during hospital stay, they will donate one more million dong per month in one year. This will help him and his family in living suspenses and recovering procedure after the surgery.

In summary, the total budget for patient Lo Van Khay was 20.605.455 VND. The nearly 30 million VND amount left (in the initial grant was 50 million dong) will be handed over to VSF for other charity for children.

Once again, we are thankful for all of the support by the two donors in this meaningful sponsorship VSF hopes to continuingly receive support of other individuals and units in our philanthropy activities.
