"The distance to school from home can’t be measured exactly in kilometers, just only can be measured visually with three small streams and two waterfalls" - told by a teacher in Khau De school, that belongs to Thai Son Kindergarten to us about the happiness of going to school of a student named Hau A Quyen.

Quyen is 5 years old and he also has a younger sister. She is Thien, 3 years old. Every day, to go to school, those two kids - one is 5 years old and the other just turns 3 - had to wake up early in the morning. On the days when it rained heavily, their clothes had gone wet but they just quietly went out to dry the fire and then immediately went back to class. There are days when Quyen and her sister walk into class with their feet covered in blood because of being bitten, that makes anyone looking at them feel traumatic. Even thought the situation is hard, the two kids, Quyen and Thien have never been absent of class.

The happiness and motivation of going to school is not only poems, stories, and the teachers’ caring, but also the delicious, nutritious lunch meals and snacks every afternoon for all over a year. Thanks to the help of hundreds of individual sponsors and organizations across the country, the children had delicious boarding meals at school.

This comes from the project "Growing up with mountainous preschool students" by Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF). We are very honoured together with sponsors/benefactors to continue running the second year of the project - accompanying 5 preschools in the disadvantaged areas in Cao Bang with free lunch meals. The joy of the teachers and students out here makes us more confident in the good values that the project is aiming to bring out every single day.
