From the webinar for parents to skill-building workshops for children, from a team of young volunteers to family-bonding activities, The Scarlet sails 2025 project has been steadily working toward its goal: creating safe, friendly spaces where children are heard, understood, and equipped with skills to protect themselves.

After conducting a needs assessment among BAC A BANK staff to better understand parents' concerns and expectations in supporting their children, the project officially kicked off on May 17 with the webinar “The beautiful teenage years.” Nearly 170 parents joined two guest speakers to discuss topics such as sex education, reproductive health, the risks of abuse, and effective communication with children during puberty.

Shortly after, a team of 8 young volunteers was formed and trained. The children learned about gender and child protection, and were also trained in coordination, teamwork, presentation, and active listening skills, preparing them to become key supporters of the project.

In June, the project hosted two training courses for nearly 40 students:

  • A course on comprehensive sexuality education, helping students understand bodily changes, gender identity, safe sex, privacy rights, and how to build healthy relationships.
  • A course on preventing stigma, discrimination, and violence, guiding students to recognize school bullying, online abuse, and child sexual abuse. The course also introduced self-protection rules (like PANTS, swimwear zones, and 5 circles of trust), and encouraged children to express emotions and seek help when needed.

On June 28, the “Connect and share” seminar offered parents and children a space to engage in empathy-building and bonding activities. Families also participated in a creative recycling activity to raise funds in support of disadvantaged children.

With the funds raised, the project plans to organize another training session on sex education and violence/discrimination prevention for 30 children in especially difficult circumstances in the near future.

Let’s look back at some memorable moments from this meaningful journey in the video above.
