A successful year of Earth Pig for VSF is about to end with a lot of meaningful activities for the community. Let's review 10 Highlights of VSF in 2019.
1. The launch of the DynaGen Initiative, recruiting 48 students and starting the first training course (2019-2020)
In 02/2019, VSF officially launched DynaGen Initiative. This program aims at mobilizing social resources to support students to reach their full potential in the learning process, looking for jobs, building their careers as well âs raising awareness and responsibility in taking part in social activities. After 5 months of recruitment, 48 students Gen 1 (2019-2020) had been selected to participate in the skills training program. Through the first training session, DynaGen students Gen 1 showed a young, dynamic, eager to learn, humble and very responsible for the community generation.
2. Won "The best Asian Non-Profit Organization Award in 2019" by Asia Philanthropy Award
Thanks to the achievement and contribution to many charity activities and developing the community in Vietnam, in 04/2019, VSF won “The best Asian Non-Profit Organization Award in 2019” by Asia Philanthropy Award. This is worthy recognition for the efforts of VSF in the last 5 years.
3. The inauguration of 25 Hope Bridge in Can Tho Province
In 08/2019, VSF, Hope Fund, Bac A Bank and the local government inaugurated the Hope Bridge 25 at Thanh Loc hamlet, Co Do, Can Tho. The Hope Bridge 25 opened before the new school start helped nearly 500 students go to schools safely and reduce the traffic pressure for more than 250 local households.
Hope Bridge 25 with a series of civil works funded by VSF across the country has contributed to social security and the development of the country in general and the intellectual and stature of Vietnamese children in particular.
4. Successful implementation of Phase 3 - Project “For mother and baby – For Vietnamese stature”
In 08/2019, the project“For Mother and Baby – For Vietnamese Stature” officially completed the stage 3. 22 companies from three industrial zones in Vinh Phuc participated fully in all of the activities including: (i) training provide information for trade union and health workers (ii) communicating with workers about nutrition, reproductive health care, metal health (iii) mobile health test (iv) marketing condom & oral contraceptives directly at the factory (v) knowledge contest. There are 4.260 beneficiaries more, increase the total of beneficiaries through three-stage to 9.660 people.
5. Organizing a series of activities to support children with disabilities at Thuy An Rehabilitation Center For People With Disabilities
Sharing the same enthusiasm to support the disabled children, VSF has collaborated with Thuy An Rehabilitation Center and organized many activities including: a campaign to draw Tet pictures by disabled children to design, sell Li Xi to raise fund (February 2019), donate rehabilitation medical equipment (March 2019), organize a picnic day for Thuy An students with disabilities with BAC A BANK (July / 2019), donating learning equipment (September 2019) and financial support (December 2019). The total support amount is up to nearly VND 200 million. These meaningful activities are the share of VSF and the community to the disadvantaged people, and are the motivation for Thuy An students to rise up in life.
6. Awarding 130 bookshelves and organizing a reading festival in Yen Thanh, Nghe An Province
In 09/2019, VSF coordinated with Yen Thanh People’s Committee and the compassionate bookcase, with sponsorship and participation of 60 volunteers from TH Group, give 130 bookshelves to 20 primary schools in Yen Thanh province, Nghe An. On this occasion, 650 students at Hop Thanh primary school, Nghe An participated in “Reading day with Hang and Cuoi”. The program with 20 activities ranging from topics related to books and folk games created a meaningful playground for children on the occasion of mid-autumn.
7. The inauguration of the school in Huoi Xai, Nghe An province
In 11/2019, VSF and TH Group inaugurated the Huoi Xai school (Tri Le, Que Phong, Nghe An). This is one of the farthest and most inaccessible school because of the rugged terrain, slippery rocks, most of the journey has to go by motorbike or on foot. 98 students are studying at the school sites and most of them come from families with difficult circumstances. With the total sponsorship of 520 millions VND, the upgraded and repair school have contributed to help students have better study conditions, encourage them to go to school ând also be a motivation to teachers.
8. Fundraising successfully 687.700.000 VND through the Love Drops program
Becoming an annual activity in October – the month of the action for women and children, the “Drops of Love” program in 2019 has raise successfully 687.700.000 VND from individuals and businesses for a short period of time. VSF, with diverse approaches, always know how to mobilize resources effectively to support the disadvantaged in the community. Humanistic spirit, these noble acts are a source of inspiration and strong development for VSF to continue to carry out meaningful activities for the society.
9. Technical advice for CARE International in Vietnam in the “I’m strong” project
As an organization carried out many health care activities for workers, especially female workers, VSF has been selected as a technical advisory partner of CARE International in Vietnam in the project “I’m strong” from 2019. In that, VSF provides professional advice on health and gender equality including nutrition, mental health, reproductive health as well as training for local core groups and “I’m strong” groups. In the 2019-2020 period, VSF also selected 6 students from DynaGen Initiative, initiated by VSF, to become collaborators of the project.
10. The 5-year anniversary of community connecting journey
In 12/2019, VSF marked 5 years of operation in the philanthropy and community development field. During 5 years, with the contribution and efforts for the physical and mental health of Vietnamese children, VSF has been recognized by many domestic and international certification, and gain trust from thousands of individuals, businesses, organizations in the community. On this occasion, VSF auctioned successfully the chrysanthemum painting at 45.000.000 VND to sponsor the disadvantaged children across the country. Moreover, the event also raised a fund of 193.000.000 VND for volunteer activities and development. In particular, Madam Thai Huong – Founder and Chairwoman of VSF Management Board, donated a bridge in the remote area personally. VSF is very proud of the young age but with efforts and diverse approaches, the Fund has been connecting social resources effectively in many volunteers activities and community development project.
