On August 17th 2017, at Thang Long Industrial Zone (Dong Anh, Hanoi), a training course on organizing communication of proper nutrition, child feeding, sexual and reproductive health care for female workers was organized. This is one of the activities of the project "For Mother and Baby - For Vietnamese Stature", collaboratively organized by 3 parts: Trade Union of Industrial Zones and Export Processing Zones (Hanoi Industrial Zone) with deployment responsibility; For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) as the technical advisory unit and TH Group as the sponsor.
Participants take part in the training course
Through the training course and leaflets, more than 50 participants were provided with awareness raising / technical knowledge and skills to carry out on-the-job communication activities on nutrition, sexuality and parenting skills. The trainees were also answered questions not only during but also after the training course from professional consultants in the form of emails / texts ... thus contributing to the national goal of enhancing the stature and the physical strength of the Vietnamese.
Most participants emphasize the role of nutrition in the practice of child raising knowledge and sexual and reproductive health. Hoang Thi Thanh, trade union official of Toto Vietnam, Thang Long Industrial Zone, said: "Many workers, even staff, lack knowledge about nutrition. Being supported like this is really precious.
The causes and solutions for proper nutrition practice, child feeding and sexual and reproductive health care were presented by the female workers in a presentation on relevant knowledge.
Even in the process of exchanging perception and sharing knowledge, many learners are amazed at the nearby nutritional resources that they hardly notice. Ms. Phung Thi Han, a health official at Fujikin, Thang Long Industrial Zone, said: "It is absolutely necessary to diversify the nutritional content of meals for children as well as for pregnant mothers. It is true that we do not know much about fresh milk. Unbelievably, fresh milk can bring so much nutrition when used properly. We will communicate to our workers in the future. "
Immediately after the training was a series of 16 direct communication sessions and knowledge through the leaflets which was accessed by more than 2000 female workers (18-35 years) with 3 topics: i) improve nutrition care for women of reproductive age; ii) improve nutritional care for children in their golden age; iii) sexual and reproductive health care; and mental health care for pregnant and postnatal women.
