In addition to the training session on gender equality in household economic development, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) and TH Group, in collaboration with the Women’s Union of Nghia Lam commune, also organized a training course on “Preventing Online Scams,” facilitated by Captain Truong Cong Minh, an officer of the Nghia Lam commune Police.

The direct participation of the commune police officer not only made the awareness-sharing session more practical, relatable, and easier to understand, but also demonstrated the active involvement of local authorities in protecting residents, especially vulnerable women, from increasingly complex risks in cyberspace.

Through real-life situations, typical case studies, and interactive discussions, the program helped participants gain a clearer understanding of common online scams today, including impersonation of police officers, fake online collaborator recruitment schemes, fraudulent banking messages, hacked Facebook/Zalo accounts used for borrowing money, and AI-powered tactics that mimic voices and images to appropriate assets.

The atmosphere of the training session became lively as many women actively shared suspicious calls and messages that they and people in their communities had encountered.

The participants also learned many important principles to protect themselves in cyberspace, such as not sharing OTP codes or personal information, not transferring money without verification, avoiding suspicious links, and always carefully checking requests related to financial transactions.

And especially the “3 Golden Rules”: Don’t trust – Don’t rush – Don’t transfer money.

Many participants shared that this was the first time they had received comprehensive, accessible, and systematic knowledge about digital safety and online scam prevention. The practical and relatable information helped raise their awareness and encouraged them to proactively share what they learned with family members and neighbors so that everyone could better protect themselves.

“We hope that supporting women will go beyond livelihood funding to also include knowledge and skills, enabling them to confidently protect themselves and their families from risks in daily life and in the digital environment. When women are equipped with adequate information and skills, they can become more proactive in economic development as well as in building safer and more sustainable lives for their families and communities,” said Mr. Vu Xuan Thai, VSF Program Manager.
