TRAINING SKILLS TO AGAINST SEXUAL ABUSE FOR CHILDREN IN NGOC SON FISHING VILLAGE, HAI PHONG

On June 7, 2019, in Ngoc Son Ward, Kien An District, Hai Phong City, For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) cooperated with Hai Phong Women's Union and Ngoc Son Women's Union held a training course on skills of prevention sexual abuse for children in the fishing village.
Participating in the training course were 14 children, aged 7 - 14 years old. Trainer Tran Hong Diep and Vu Xuan Thai of VSF helped the children in the village to understand the concept of sexual abuse and other forms of abuse, identify sexual abuse perpetrators, as well as identify risk situations, safety principles and practice situations handling skills.
This is the second training course in the series of activities that VSF has been implementing in fishing village. Given increasing situations of children sexual abuse, this training course is an extremely meaningful activity.
Fishing village on the bank of Lach Tray river, Hai Phong has 26 households, living here for nearly 30 years, all the people in the village are manual workers and encounter many difficulties in living as well as access to social services. Living conditions in fishing village are not guaranteed due to the lack of residential land. The households do not have permanent residence registration, their living environment is seriously affected by industrial waste from nearby factories. Among 26 households living, there are 30 children under 18 but only 15 children go to school.
