“During the teaching-learning process, I have encountered many awkward and embarrassing situations with my students. Sometimes I didn’t know how to handle it. Today's training course helped me learn another method that can be applied. Moreover, it helps raise the mutual respect between teachers and students, so we can have a better learning environment", Mrs. Ha Thi Hong, a teacher at Chau Hoi Ethnic Minority Boarding School, Quy Chau district, Nghe An province shared.
“After attending this training course, I found this is a very useful method for both teachers and students. I will try to integrate this method into the teaching-learning plans for our students and teachers in the coming school years", Mrs. Le Thi Huyen, Principal of Chau Hoi Ethnic Boarding School, Quy Chau district, Nghe An Province said.
These sharings are from the teachers in Quy Chau district, Nghe An province after attending the training course on "Positive Discipline" organized by For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) in collaboration with the Quy Chau Department of Education and Training at Chau Hoi Ethnic Minority Boarding School.
At the training course, participants were introduced to the concept of positive discipline and learned about the importance of this approach in schools and families, as well as analyzing its constituent elements.

In addition, teachers shared real-life situations encountered in the teaching and learning process and applied positive discipline methods to build respectful relationships between teachers and students, as well as increasing students' confidence and proactively solving problem-solving skills.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, President of the Vietnam Association for Protection of Child Rights (VACR), and lecturer of the training class said: "According to the results of the survey on domestic violence in 2019 conducted by the Institute for Family and Gender Studies, 69% of children said they had been punished by their parents in different forms such as hitting, punching, kicking, slapping... and also 31.6% of parents admitted they had punished their children with violence. Using physical and mental violence as punishment will greatly affect the child's development and psychology. With positive discipline method, we will create an environment in which children gradually develop self-control, know how to make good decisions, learn how to respect the feelings of others, and become more confident.”
The "Positive Discipline" training course is one of many contents within the framework of the "Happy School" project implemented by VSF. The project is a comprehensive solution to improve the teaching-learning conditions of schools in difficult regions. This is one of the next efforts of the VSF to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in education, health, equity, and sustainable development.
The Happy School Project is a long-term project implemented by VSF, starting from the academic year 2022-2023 in Lao Cai and Son La provinces. In the 2023-2024 academic year, the project is expected to introduce a lot of meaningful activities to schools in Nghe An province with the companionship of TH Group and BAC A BANK.
