"The construction of new restrooms is truly wonderful. It helps students receive better healthcare at school and also contributes to raising their awareness and attitudes towards environmental protection,” shared Mr.Luong Van Hoa, Principal of Long Phieng B Primary School, during the inauguration ceremony of 20 new restrooms in Yen Chau district, Son La province, on December 23.

Early in the morning, Principal Luong Van Hoa, along with teachers and students of Pha Cung School, gathered at the school to prepare for the ceremony. Pha Cung School currently has 75 students, but previously, the school only had one small toilet shared by both teachers and students.

Because the restroom was not up to standard, it was located in a separate area far from the classrooms. This distance made it difficult for students to use, especially during bad weather or during short breaks. Moreover, as it was not properly constructed, the restroom often emitted unpleasant odors, affecting the surrounding air and causing discomfort for students.

When learning that the school would receive a new toilet, both teachers and students were excited and looked forward to the inauguration day. The school now has a new septic toilet built following the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training. It includes two indoor restrooms and an outdoor hand-washing area. Above the toilets, there is an instruction board to help students practice proper hand-washing habits daily.

Long Phieng B Primary School is one of 20 schools to inaugurate new restrooms under the “Wishes for Children” program. This achievement is the result of cooperation among For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF), the National Volunteer Center (under the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union), TH Group, BAC A BANK, Son La Provincial Youth Union, Yen Chau District Youth Union, and local authorities.
