"In this present moment, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to enrol in this fantastic class. I mastered the eight processes required to produce an essay as well as supplementary abilities including paying attention, listening, memorization, and practice."
Minh Thu, a 5th grader at Suoi Bang Primary and Secondary School (Van Ho, Son La), shared this charming story during a journalism and wall newspaper training session as part of the Happy School Project.
Minh Thu was one of 30 students and six elementary school instructors who took part in this program. Classes were also offered at Ban Lau Primary School on November 19 in addition to Suoi Bang Primary and Secondary School on October 27. (Muong Khuong, Lao Cai).
Teachers and students learnt how to write a newspaper and create a wall-newspaper for the first time under the leadership of two lecturers, journalist Do Thi Thanh Binh - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong and Nhi Dong Newspaper, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Thuy - life-skills education specialist.
Do Thi Oanh, a teacher at Ban Lau Primary School and one of the teachers in the training course, said that she and her students used to make wall-newspapers in the past, but they just copied each other and didn't follow any rules or guidelines. Following the workshop, however, she was able to create and produce wall-newspapers that were engaging, visually appealing, and correctly presented in accordance with journalistic standards. She committed to do her best to share the knowledge and skills she gained at the training session with other instructors and students, as well as to create beautiful wallpapers.
Participating in this writing and journalism skills training course is the first step in establishing young journalist clubs in each school. They will be guided to continue writing articles and creating wall-papers to express their views on relevant issues, beginning with the content they have been trained on within the framework of the Happy Schools Project, such as gender and gender equality, clean water - sanitation and environment, and so on. Awards will be given out and displayed at the event for the best articles and wall newspapers.
