Update: I am Strong Project

After 1 month of co-research implementation, with the research planning, first and second information-gathering activities, this group meeting discussed the most detailed and specific information regarding reproductive health, nutrition for children, income diversification, and parenting.

To encourage "I am Strong" warriors, the meeting had a "Medal Award" section to recognize the efforts and contributions of female workers during the past journey. VSF believes that these recognitions will motivate groups to continue their research, proceed to share the research reports, and discuss solutions with related parties by the end of this year.

VSF was really touched when received many positive feedbacks from participants about what they had gained through the project. Ms. H. (Group Hung Son, Ngoc Lac) shared that she had learned many great things to apply in teaching her children such as controlling anger. Before, if her kids didn't obey, she would be really angry and even hit them right away, causing the kids to leave. But now, as she had learned how to control her temper, she talks and confides more to the kids so they could learn and be more obedient.

Ms. N. (Group Hung Son, Ngoc Lac) also agree and think that through the project, she knows that beating her children was not a good way of teaching them. Instead, she also controls her temper by going away because she believes that hitting kids just makes them against her.

With the aim of building confidence, leadership skills, and knowledge to enhance the welfare and improve working conditions for female workers, CARE International in Vietnam co-operates the "I am strong" project with the Women's Union of Thanh Hoa Province, the Institute of Social Research, economics and environment (ISEE Institute), Center for Community Health Research and Support (CCHS) and For Vietnamese Stature Foundation in Thanh Hoa, Long An, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City.
