“The rapid implementation of the program to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses in recent times carries a profoundly significant meaning. It is not only about providing solid homes but also a testament to the power of national solidarity, when the entire political system, businesses, and communities join hands in action. Each house represents safety and security, a foundation for families to feel assured in their work, for their children to study and strive to escape poverty. At the same time, the program kindles faith, pride, and the spirit of mutual support - fundamental values for building a sustainable society.”

This was the heartfelt sharing of Ms. Tran Hong Diep - Director of For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) at the seminar “Joining hands to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses – From temporary shelter to homes of warmth" organized by VietNamNet. The seminar also featured the participation of Ms. Nong Thi Ha - Deputy Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, and Mr. Hoang Thanh Oai - Director of the Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs of Thai Nguyen province.

During the discussion, the guests reviewed the program’s implementation process, highlighted key figures and results, assessed its real impacts on people’s lives, and exchanged experiences on mobilizing resources to further expand this support model nationwide.

After 450 days of rapid deployment, the national program to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses was successfully completed ahead of schedule, bringing safe, solid homes to hundreds of thousands of poor households, ethnic minority communities, people with meritorious service, and policy-beneficiary families in remote areas. This success was achieved thanks to the joint efforts of all levels of government, the business community, social organizations, and the people.

Accompanying the program, VSF, TH Group, and BAC A BANK actively implemented many support activities. In Nghe An, one of the provinces with the highest number of dilapidated houses nationwide, the three entities contributed 30.5 billion VND to build and repair homes for poor and near-poor households, border communities, and families with meritorious service. This contribution played a vital role in helping Nghe An achieve its target of completing 100% of required new builds and repairs.

Previously, these organizations had also supported the construction of over 400 Great Solidarity Houses for poor households in Dien Bien and other northwestern provinces, as well as contributed tens of billions of VND to assist people affected by natural disasters, including support for building and repairing solid housing so families could quickly stabilize their lives.
