On the afternoon of May 5, 2026, VSF held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a semi-boarding kitchen at My Ly 1 Primary School for Ethnic Minorities in My Ly commune, Nghe An province, with the participation of local authorities, school representatives, parents, students, and partnering organizations.

The project, valued at VND 383 million, will cover nearly 50 square meters and be built with durable, hygienic, and safe facilities. Funding for the construction comes from the profits of the 2025 Mid-Autumn Mooncake Fundraising Campaign, together with contributions from 115 parents of the TH School System and individual donors. The project is expected to be completed during the summer and put into operation for the 2026–2027 academic year.

“The semi-boarding kitchen project is not just about building square meters of infrastructure, but also about delivering care and invaluable encouragement to teachers and students in this border region. It is a meaningful project contributing to the development of students’ physical growth, health, and intellectual potential,” shared Mr. Nguyen The Vinh, Principal of My Ly 1 Primary Semi-Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, during the ceremony.

The school’s current kitchen was temporarily renovated from an old wooden classroom and does not meet safety standards, especially regarding fire prevention and control. In addition, the drainage system has not been properly installed, causing inconvenience in daily activities and affecting hygiene and food safety conditions in the school kitchen.

Once completed, the new kitchen facility will help improve the school’s infrastructure and provide better living conditions for students. Throughout the implementation process, VSF will continue updating the project’s progress so that donors and the community can follow and accompany the initiative.

VSF sincerely thanks the parents of the TH School System, benefactors, and individual donors who helped bring this meaningful project to life.
