We believe that from today onward, the journey to school for children will be safer; the travel and trade of the people will be more convenient; and the worries of isolation during the upcoming rainy seasons will be somewhat reduced.

But more than a piece of inftrastructure, we hope this bridge will become a “bridge of connection” - connecting people with opportunities for development, connecting children with the path of education, connecting the care and support of the wider community with areas still facing many difficulties.”

This is the sharing of Ms. Tran Thi Nhu Trang, Chairwoman of the Board of Management of For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) at the inauguration ceremony of the Hang Gang - For Vietnamese Stature Bridge in Lao Chai commune, Lao Cai province.

Nearly a year ago, during a field visit to the area, VSF witnessed villagers crossing a deteriorating temporary wooden bridge, with vehicles only allowed to cross the stream during the dry season. We also heard stories from the villagers of Hang Gang about the difficulties in transporting agricultural products, taking their children to school, or accessing healthcare services during the rainy season and floods.

Therefore, VSF decided to partner with the local government and villagers to build a sturdy, arched bridge across the stream leading to the village. Projects like the Hang Gang - For Vietnamese Stature Bridge are also a way for VSF to pursue sustainable human development, especially for children in disadvantaged areas.

VSF representative also added that for a child to go further in the future, sometimes the starting point is very simple: a safe bridge to school, a convenient road to connect with the outside world.
